The Importance of Being Consistent with Oneself

La importancia de ser coherente con uno mismo. Filosofía Maminat
"You are what you do and what you think. Both things, and if they are not compatible, you are not credible." In this phrase, Walter Riso reflected on the importance of coherence when it comes to living better with oneself and in harmony with everything around us. How many times have you had the feeling that you have let yourself down? That you have done something that you know does not align with your way of thinking or feeling? Yes, believe it or not, a lack of coherence can affect your mood, and significantly. We don't mean that a lack of coherence leads to unhappiness. Life generally presents us with different situations that make being coherent with ourselves not entirely simple; however, it is always within our power to humbly acknowledge mistakes and correct them as much as possible.

How to be coherent with ourselves?

Generally, a lack of coherence takes away a certain harmony from our body; it drains our energy. Feeling that your head and your heart are not walking hand in hand brings multiple consequences, and you, who know everything (because we have all the wisdom within us), notice that something is not right inside. Sometimes, the proof is that you maintain relationships and situations that do not bring you satisfaction. Don't worry! It happens to all of us, it can be remedied, and when something like this happens, it's always worth asking: what benefits do I get from continuing with this...? The answers will be neither simple nor easy, but rather painful; however, going through that pain and being aware of the reasons that lead us to remain in situations that may not be coherent or consistent with what we desire will make us emerge stronger and with much more knowledge. The same can happen with our consumption habits:
  • Do you usually consume organic or ecological products, but if the supermarket offers them to you "at rock-bottom prices," do you prefer to buy them from a large retailer rather than a small producer, even though you have no idea under what conditions and how the raw materials were purchased?
  • Do you claim to be environmentally friendly and yet you keep buying clothes?
  • What type of companies do you support with your consumption?
  • Maminat, commitment and coherence

Logistics, prices, convenience... Over the years, Maminat has also encountered various obstacles that have sometimes made it difficult to maintain coherence between what we would like to do and what was technically possible. However, we were clear that it was very important to know where our weaknesses were in order to improve them and that the solutions were consistent with our lifestyle. Perfect people do not exist, nor does a perfect brand. We can tell you that we take care of our producers to buy their raw materials at a fair price for both parties. We are committed to natural and organic cosmetics, buying packaging manufactured in Spain and setting a fair price for our final products that reflects the work we do. We have always tried to be a high-quality brand without "swinging" on final prices.

The 3 R's: reduce, reuse, and recycle

On this journey towards coherence, we have made some decisions in recent months:
    • Eliminate our plastic packaging for gels and shampoos to offer you our creations in more sustainable packaging that you can reuse.
    • Our labels are now made of stone paper, so no trees are cut down to make them.
    • In the coming months, we will also be reducing our waste.
    • And what can we tell you! It all takes effort, and we love doing it and being, every day, a little more coherent. It's not easy; we know you value it a lot, and we are on that path to try to achieve it. Sometimes, we have many debates within the team about the sustainability of each product, of each creation, although we can tell you that it's a pleasure to work with a team concerned not only with immediate sales but with many other factors. Some will call us crazy; others may think we are boasting, but the truth is that being more coherent every day makes us sleep better. Thank you!
