Rosacea Treatment and Care

Tratamiento y cuidados para la rosácea

Redness, irritation on the facial skin, dryness in areas near the eyes, burning sensation, swollen eyelids...these are just some of the symptoms presented by people with rosacea, a common skin condition suffered by thousands of people, especially middle-aged women with fair skin.

If you identify with these symptoms, do not hesitate to read on, as today we reveal which cosmetic ingredients work best to control and reduce rosacea.

Causes of rosacea

The fact that it mainly occurs in women makes us think that it may be caused by a hormonal issue. However, the intake of certain antibiotics, certain beverages, temperature changes, and the components of some cosmetics can lead to an increase in rosacea symptoms.

Rosacea Treatment

Not everyone has the same type of rosacea, so the treatment should not be the same. From Maminat, we recommend that you consult a specialist if the symptoms are very severe and you do not notice improvement with any type of treatment.

Having a good facial care routine is key to keeping rosacea under control. From Maminat, we reveal what daily care you should follow to prevent the condition from worsening.

  1. Use a gentle cleanser that doesn't require rinsing, and avoid hot water. Rose water can be an excellent ally, as it hydrates while soothing.
  2. Protect yourself from the sun. It is not enough not to expose yourself to the sun during the central hours of the day; you must also use sunscreen. We recommend it to be broad-spectrum, non-irritating, and non-comedogenic.
  3. Opt for foundations with physical filter sunscreen included that allow you to show off beautiful skin while protecting yourself from the sun. In addition, choose light foundations, as this will prevent pores from clogging. It is advisable that its formulation includes active ingredients such as titanium dioxide or zinc oxide.
  4. At night, hydrate your skin with a cream or a light-textured regenerating serum. Make sure it contains antioxidant and regenerating ingredients such as grape seed oil or flaxseed oil.
  5. Use facial creams made with natural ingredients. During the day, opt for creams with 100% ingredients to avoid further irritating the skin with chemicals. Our facial creams contain sesame oil, a cell regenerator that acts as a gentle sun filter and stimulates circulation.
  6. Seek psychological help if you need it. We always say that the skin is the mirror of emotions, and in this case, it holds true. Emotional stress is a trigger for rosacea.

What cosmetics should you avoid if you suffer from rosacea?

The skin of people suffering from rosacea is extremely sensitive, so it is advisable to use cosmetic products that are formulated with natural and organic ingredients, like those we make at Maminat.

If you have recently been diagnosed with this condition, we tell you what type of ingredients you should avoid if you don't want to alter your skin's cutaneous barrier.

Sulfates (sodium laureth sulfate, sodium lauryl sulfate, and ammonium lauryl sulfate), commonly present in shampoos and chemical facial cleansers, can cause irritation and be abrasive to the skin.

Alcohols such as ethanol, isopropyl, or propanol damage the skin's protective layer, dehydrating it and worsening rosacea symptoms. This should not be confused with other types of alcohol such as cetyl, stearyl, and cetearyl, which are considered safe for the skin.
