Coumarin is an aromatic substance used in cosmetics. It is present in many plants, such as sweet vernal grass (Anthoxanthum odoratum), sweet woodruff (Galium odoratum), common mullein (Verbascum thapsus), and tonka bean (Dipteryx odorata), with the seeds of the latter tree containing the highest concentration. In fact, this is why its name comes from coumarou, as this is also a term used for tonka.
