SELL ONLINE AND PROMOTE LOCAL BUSINESS

Is it possible to sell online and promote local commerce? Yes. We are constantly bombarded with news that there is an increasing amount of e-commerce; that is, online stores, and that can mean two things: the first is that people are losing their fear of buying online, or that more and more companies are venturing into the online world. And it could also be a combination of both... But what's the other side of the coin? If there are more and more e-commerce businesses, there is greater competition, and within the online world, local commerce can also be promoted. Is it the same to buy from a website belonging to a small business as it is from a large chain? Of course not. Behind every company there is a philosophy, a way of doing things, and it is up to us to support one type of business or another.

For this reason, small and medium-sized e-commerce businesses can ally with those of their same size that are in our neighborhoods, in our towns, and which we frequent because we receive excellent service from their shopkeepers, owners, and employees, because they inspire trust, or simply because we want them to grow with a family structure and we would not like them to cease to exist.

Local commerce and proximity commerce

Last summer I changed my residence and moved from living in the city center to a small town in the province of Valencia in the Sierra Calderona, and here there is no other option than to buy in small shops. Personally, it makes me happy to go shopping because they are small businesses run by families and where the quality is exquisite (my mouth waters just thinking about it...). If you go to the bakery, a thousand kinds of bread, handmade ones. In the herbalist, they recommend, they talk to you about plants, they explain what they are going to bring... In fact, on my last visit there was a very old lady buying Rabogato. Do you know this plant? Well, it's a natural anti-inflammatory that can help you prevent and cure more than one cold... In some way, local and proximity commerce is full of stories, and I assure you that when I return home after spending a few hours shopping in the "traditional" stores, it makes me happy. I think "what money better invested." It makes me happier than spending it in large chains. I think "today I help a family eat."

Promoting local commerce

Promoting local commerce is necessary for the economy to flow and for money not to remain only in the hands of a few, and for our streets not to become solely chains of businesses that usually, in general, pay little to producers and try to maximize their margin with respect to the producer who supplies them with material so that they can sell and market it.

Maminat distributors

Therefore, with Maminat, we try to make an extension that is as coherent as possible with this way of thinking, and in which our website goes hand in hand with stores, small and medium-sized businesses that not only value our product to put it on their shelves but in which you notice that there is something special about them, something that makes them different. I stop to think and remember Víctor, from Món més net, from whom one learns a lot. He always tells you: "this can be changed, bet on this, on this other...", people like Martín and his wife who opened the doors of their herbalist to me when no one knew me, the girls from Aigua Clara to whom I said "well, I'm not a salesperson or anything but I've come to show you what I have..." and they have a fantastic project and welcomed me with open arms. To Elena, who at Poppyns, a store which, by the way, is spectacular, tried how her hair felt with Maminat shampoo and decided to bet on the products, to Chelo who has been dedicated to organic farming for many years and contacted us through Facebook and is an overwhelming woman in her Casa Verda.

Moisés is Pura vida as the name of his store, or Patricia who has a beautiful herbalist shop called Sensat where they treat customers wonderfully (some have told me...)

Now, we have been very excited to be part of a cooperative of responsible and ecological consumption that is opening in the city where we are located, in Valencia. The guys from Som alimentació are about to open their doors and already have their first order in their facilities. José from La Colmena does an amazing job of bringing producers closer to final customers, and it's a pleasure to deal with people like that.

(I'm sure I forget to mention all of you and I apologize if that's the case... but what I want to convey is the affection with which you make commercial relationships take on another dimension...)

Internet and local commerce

So if I personally try to promote neighborhood and town commerce and I pay attention to which websites I use to buy products... I'm sure you can do the same! I'm convinced you'll be happy when you know that what you've spent goes into the hands of someone who manages what they sell with a certain love, with another meaning, with consciousness...
